Restaurant scheduling

Restaurant employee scheduling with real staffing constraints

Restaurant schedules combine changing demand with role and location realities. Morning prep, lunch, dinner, front-of-house, kitchen, multiple venues, leave, and employee hour limits all compete for the same workforce.

In short

ElShift can support restaurant scheduling by representing service periods as shift templates, recording employee shift and location preferences, setting staffing demand, and using Auto-Assign to fill eligible coverage around leave, work patterns, weekly hour limits, and location minimums.

Represent service periods as shift templates

Breakfast, prep, lunch, dinner, close, or other operating periods can be represented as named shift templates. Employees can have liked or disliked shift templates, which helps distinguish people who prefer or should avoid particular periods.

Model front-of-house, kitchen, or venue demand with locations

Where the same scheduling workspace covers several work areas or venues, locations can hold separate staffing minimums. A shift can therefore need enough people overall and still require specific coverage in Kitchen, Floor, Bar, or another configured area.

Account for changing employee eligibility

Recorded leave, weekly hour caps, work-pattern rest days, other assignments, and transition rules can remove an employee from the eligible pool even when that person normally works the relevant service period.

Use shortage diagnostics before service

If dinner needs six people but the configured constraints leave only four eligible employees, ElShift can expose the shortage before the manager treats the schedule as finished.
