ElShift models employee scheduling preferences rather than arbitrary free-form availability windows. Managers can configure weekday and shift-template likes or dislikes, location suitability, leave, repeating work patterns, and weekly-hour limits. Auto-Assign uses those settings when deciding who is eligible and how eligible employees are ranked.
Know what weekday and shift preferences do
For weekdays and named shift templates, liked choices improve an employee's ranking among otherwise eligible candidates. Disliked weekdays and shift templates block Auto-Assign from placing that employee into the affected day or template. A clear setting is neutral.
Use leave and work patterns for time-based restrictions
Recorded leave blocks the affected dates. Repeating work patterns determine working and rest days from the employee's configured anchor date, and rotating patterns can also require the matching shift template.
Use location suitability deliberately
A disliked location is not eligible for that employee. If an employee has one or more liked locations, Auto-Assign restricts that employee to the liked set; if there are no liked locations, any location that is not disliked can remain eligible.
Use shift templates for recurring service windows
Teams that run mornings, evenings, nights, or other repeatable service periods can represent those periods as shift templates and configure employee preferences around those templates. ElShift does not currently provide arbitrary employee-entered intra-day or split time-window availability.
